Understanding Laser Treatments

At Body Solutions, we offer a range of advanced laser treatments, and every service we provide is based on what the laser energy is absorbed by. Understanding these targets helps us choose the right wavelengths and settings for safe, effective results. Laser wavelengths are absorbed by one of three things within the skin:

  • pigment

  • hemoglobin

  • water

Electrolysis vs. Laser Hair Removal: Which Is Right for You?

When most people think of laser treatments, laser hair removal is the first thing that comes to mind, and if that’s you, you’re not alone. If you’ve been wondering whether laser hair removal is right for you, you’ve come to the right place.

Here at Body Solutions, we got our start in permanent hair removal through electrolysis over 30 years ago. We know the strengths and limitations of both methods. Each has its advantages, and in many cases, combining laser and electrolysis delivers the fastest and most lasting results.

So, let’s break it down.

Why Choose Laser Hair Removal?

  • Fast Treatment for Large Areas: Laser hair removal can treat larger areas, like legs, back, or arms, more quickly than electrolysis.

  • Long-Term Hair Reduction: While not permanent, laser is a hair reduction technique approved by the FDA. Laser hair removal provides significant long-term hair reduction with a successful clearance ranging between 80-90%.

  • Results for Every Skin Type: Our modern laser has improved technology that can treat any skin tone, including darker Fitzpatricks IV-VI.

  • Comfortable & Efficient: Modern lasers are designed for comfort and speed, making sessions relatively quick with minimal discomfort.

**Laser hair removal does not work on blond, white, or grey hair colors.

Why Choose Electrolysis Hair Removal?

  • Permanent Results for Every Hair & Skin Type: Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal, safely treating all hair colors and skin tones, including blond, gray, white, and fine hairs that lasers can’t target.

  • Precision on Every Hair: Each follicle is treated individually, ensuring complete and lasting results even in small or sensitive areas like the upper lip, eyebrows, or bikini line.

  • Safe & Proven Technology: Electrolysis has been trusted since 1875, with continuous improvements in comfort, precision, and effectiveness.

  • Ideal for Any Stage of Your Hair Removal Journey: Whether you’re finishing areas after laser treatments or starting fresh, electrolysis provides the final, permanent solution to unwanted hair.

Both electrolysis and laser hair removal are effective methods for reducing or permanently ridding yourself of unwanted hair, but they work in different ways, and each person will have an ideal treatment journey. Understanding the differences can help you make an informed choice.

And this is where we come in. We’ll evaluate your hair type, skin tone, treatment area, and personal goals to help you decide which method, or combination, will provide the best results. Many clients choose electrolysis for facial hair and precision areas while using laser hair removal for larger body areas. Both methods are safe, effective, and performed under professional, physician-directed care.
